"" Foods that have a low glycaemic index (GI) are less likely to cause a rapid rise in blood sugar levels and may be a good choice for people looking to avoid glucose spikes. Some examples of low GI foods include:
  1. Non-starchy vegetables like broccoli, spinach, and green beans
  2. Legumes like chickpeas, lentils, and kidney beans
  3. Nuts and seeds like almonds, walnuts, and chia seeds
  4. Whole grains like oats, quinoa, and brown rice
  5. Berries like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries
It's important to note that the glycaemic index of a food can vary depending on several factors, such as how it's prepared, what it's eaten with, and the individual's metabolism. Therefore, it's best to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian to determine the best diet for your specific needs.""

But I feel its not much of a life, trying to live on vegs , legumes nuts and berries! Has anyone got more palatable food suggestions that is Low GI?. Thanks..

Don't ask AI for answers. Chances are that it's wrong, which it is in this case.

Carbs spike BG so reducing carbs reduces the spikes.

"Whole grains like oats, quinoa, and brown rice" - Wrong! Full of carbs! And so are pulses, if somewhat less.

Foods that have very few carbs are meat, eggs, cheeses, tofu, so please enjoy a good portion of bacon and eggs instead of oats, and have your burger with all the sides except for the bun. (Beware of the sauces though, anything mayonnaise based is almost certainly lower carb than ketchup or curry sauce.)

I would strongly suggest not asking an AI for advice on diet or health. Garbage in, garbage out. Given the amount of rubbish about diet circulating on the internet, I'm not sure why anyone should expect a machine to be able to mash it all together and make sense.

In this case it has cobbled together something claimed to be about GI which (in my experience) has no discernable impact on my blood glucose levels at all - it's all carbs, and a fair amount of its recommendations are carbs.

In addition, the AI leaves out any consideration of proteins and fats from meat, fish, dairy, etc. So, 0/10 on the "Intelligence" side, but I'll give it 9/10 for "Artificial".

Hi,

Never trust “Alexa” to give dietary advice. It trips over my wife’s request for a soothing playlist?

Use a BG meter or sensor for a trend on what your preferred diet is currently doing for you. Lower carbohydrate content is what you are looking for, if you are an unmedicated diabetic.?

What medication are you prescribed.? An answer may help with replies from real experience on the matter.
What are your dietary choices? You may find there is actually more to life than what a “web crawler” tells you…

Disclaimer. I am not a “bot.” :) The moderators commenting on this topic have met me.

A lot of missing items here. Chicken, steak, burgers, sausages, eggs, haddock, scallops, salmon and bacon.

I agree just about all your suggestions . -Omar

Ignore the AI
Take low GI with a pinch of salt.
I can only eat very small amounts of legumes without spiking too high.

My go-to no carb foods if I need a snack or I'm travelling are eggs, cheese, chicken, bacon, ham and fish.

Low carb meals - add any of these: green veg, mushrooms, cauliflower rice, a green salad, plain yogurt with a few berries.
Treats, dark 85% chocolate, a no sugar added lower carb biscuit, low carb cake (homemade with no wheat or added sugar), or a fake crumble made with ground almonds

The omission of meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, cheeses and dairy produce is indeed baffling, Are the dietary questions and advice dispensed on the web predominantly for vegans? The inclusion of legumes and whole grains like oats, quinoa, and brown rice is also questionable.

Dr Geoff Hinton et al are worried that AI chatbots could become more intelligent than ourselves. If the above is any guide, we'll be safe for centuries to come!

AI learns from its source data. There are many articles on the internet about the health benefits of a vegan diet and low GI.
There is also more about male doctors and scientists than females in those roles. So AI will be sexist in that regard. Not because it uses intelligence to decide but because it uses biased data.
