Some more diabetic poetry...

My GP urged me first to take the test,
(His grasp of diabetes is the best),
He put me on the perfect medication,
No side-effects, no awkward complication,
Sage words of wisdom issued from his lips,
As smiling he prescribed my testing strips.

The practice nurse had expertise sublime,
Was sympathetic, taking lots of time,
Gave shrewd and always well-informed advice,
No specialist could have been more precise.

The clinic struck a further note triumphant,
No hours-long wait to see a strange consultant,
Advice consistent with what others said,
Results explained, and curiosity fed,
The tests came back with resolution clear –
No talk of ‘1.5’ or ‘MODY?’ here!

The café at the hospital – oh my!
Replete with food, and all was low GI,
No chocolate muffins mocked the weak T2,
No high-carb dishes lurked on the menu.

The NHS on diabetes beams.
(How sad to wake from diabetic dreams!)
