Soup and Shake Diet?

So with this in the News I thought I would ask my GP, no use, had never heard of it so I phoned up a few more GPs and none of them had heard of it.
So I called a Hospital near me and asked for their Diabetes Department, hey and they had never heard of it.
So it's obvious off the shelf items does anyone know what the soups and shakes are? Specific manufactures as it's going to take years for the NHS to actually implement the prescription.

I have no idea what this might be. If you heard about it in the media most likely it's someone selling something. No reason why anyone in the health services should be expected to know anything about it. In general I have zero interest in a product like this as a) it's processed and packaged, who knows what's in it and b) I am happy with the results from my low carb lifestyle.

Hi @Eskimos You have posted in the Type 2 diabetes section of the forum.

So do you want to lose weight?
Well you can both lose weight, reduce your Blood Glucose and also normalise high Blood pressure all with a low carb way of eating. No need for dieting (as in cutting calories) just cut down on all types of carbohydrates (both sugars and starches ) in grains (including whole grains), potatoes (including sweet potato), parsnips, flour, pasta, tropical fruit etc. and replace those calories with calories from extra Protein and Fat from Meat, fish, eggs, nuts, chees and full fat dairy.

There is no real reason why anybody needs to limit themselves to shakes and soups unless they can't eat solids !

This is probably what the OP, @Eskimos is referring to. It has been in the media recently.
Apparently only available on NHS in some areas.

It is probably based on the ‘Newcastle diet’ . https://www.ncl.ac.uk/media/wwwnclacuk/newcastlemagneticresonancecentre/files/201809%20Sample%20Recipes%20&%20meal%20plans.pdf

here have been numerous debates within these forums, with many decrying the method for diabetes control. There are fewer members posting positive comments about it, but I found having used the method 11years ago, that it kickstarted my weightloss, and I did gain good blood glucose control in non-diabetes levels quite quickly. Where people tend to fail is when they regard the method as a one off, quick fix, and don’t have a long term follow on plan.

No it's the NHS, Google NHS Soup and Shake Diet

My gp has put me on it. You buy your own shakes and there was 1 or 2 teams meetings but no monitoring really, gp called and said check your bp and sugars ( no machines provided to do it ). Its just as good as unsupervised just that gp knows about it. I am on week 4 but gave up on shakes soon after starting so just doing soups made of low starch veggies and salads.
