Tresiba is the extemely long acting basal. lasting more than 2 days, so I don't think that splitting it would help. Levemir is the one that most people split (12 hours duration?).

I personally split lantus but only because I have had some bad lantus experiences (acts fast if you inject in the wrong place) so taking it twice a day both smooths the profile and minimises the chance of a fast acting overdose.

What are you hoping to achieve by splitting your dose?

@Liftupjoe Lantus tends to be the basal people split, as it struggles to cover 24 hours. Levemir is designed to take twice. Tresiba is 48 hours plus and they do not advise splitting. I take Tresiba and if I make changes to it, generally wait 72 hours to gauge the results. So splitting would have no impact.

The question is why are you considering splitting the Tresiba. What makes you think this would improve things for you ?
