Stable blood sugar without NPH

Today i skipped my daily NPH, slow acting insuline Humulin. Only took my fast acting insulin for bolus and had stable blood sugars all day. 8 hours after meal my (BG 8.3mmol @5:30 AM) , (BG 7.5mmol @7:51 AM), (BG 7.1 @12:06pm). What im wondering the doctor told me without my slow acting insuline dose my BG would keep rising without eating anything, but it had opposite effect. Am i taking NPH for nothing if i can achieve stable BG with only Bolus doses?? Since my diagnosis 3 weeks ago I cut refined sugar completely ( i used to drink over 300g + of carbs of five alive and fruitopia juices per day before diagnosis). Now im getting more and more sensitive to my bolus doses everyday it seems. Before my diagnosis i had been feeling symptoms of hyperglycemia for 2 years ( frequent pee and thirst ) Which the doctor didn't seem to believe me. 3 years ago they did ecographie of my belly region and i was told to CUT SUGAR DRINKS ASAP because i had huge amounts of fats and i never did. I also asked the doctor if they had tested my blood for antibodies that kill insulin cells and the doctor said they didn't do it because of my age 24 and my symptoms frequent pee and thirst where obvious signs of type 1 so the C-peptide test was no necessary. He is probably right honestly but isn't it weird they dont do the test anyways to confirm 100% before diagnosis?? I need advice should i go to private clinic to ask for the antibody test? Is this just the honeymoon period of my type 1 even if i had been feeling symtoms of hyperglecimia for 2 years before i was admitted to hospital in Ketoacidosis? Any suggestions would be really appreciated, deep down i know im a type 1 but the fact they didn't do the antibody test seems a bit weird to me.
Any sugestions would be really appreciated im so confused :/
Always had a beer belly, since i cut refined sugar its has shrunk ALOT like 20%-30% even friends and family noticed a lost alot of belly fat. Seems more i lose belly fat more i become sensitive to insulin.

I think Type 1 diabetes happens fairly quickly, coming to a head when you have symptoms, so i think that you'd be unlikely to have symptoms years before (i could be wrong!)

When you first start taking insulin, it can give your remaining insulin cells a break, which can simulate production again for a period of time, so that can mean that you actually reduce your dose at first.

I think the symptoms are fairly cut and dry for Type 1 vs Type 2, but in the UK they do test for C-Peptides to give you a certain diagnosis. (mine was a few weeks after initial diagnosis), it can give a wierd hope before confirmation that there is a chance of not having diabetes, but unfortunately if a spade is a spade....

When you have undiagnosed Type 1, you lose weight because your body can't absorb glucose, so burns fat reserves instead. It may also be that you have altered your diet and or cut carbs which could lead to some weight loss.

Today Premeal 7.5mmol used my regular 1:10 carb ratio eating same foods as usual 4 hours later was feeling shaky was down to 3.8mmol. I will try changing my carb ratio to 1:15 to see if it evens out

6.2mmol took my bolus at 1:15 carb ratio this time and my BG still crashing towards hypo. Im freaking out next i will try 1:20 carb ratio. I have been lazy all day so no i have not exercised or changed meal habbits. My carb count is spot on because i have charts on everything i eat.

Tricky maybe your basal is out? If you look up basal testing, loads of info available. In honeymoon it may all keep changing so have to be prepared for that. I haven’t ever really properly basal tested - I just make sure I’m fairly stable overnight.

ratio wise, depending on what you eat, some foods are very slow release, pizza is in a league of its own! But beans and pulses are also very slow. This could mean you go low before the carbs kick in if you’re getting a high later. There’s a lot to be said for test and test again to educate yourself!

I was diagnosed 3 months ago as type 1 and no tests were done either, this made my denial of diabetes even worse. Coupled with the fact I’m in my honeymoon and no longer take any insulin with food and 4U in morning 3U in night Of basal and still have hypos. I have a libre and my levels never go above 7. All this made me sure I didn’t have diabetes and I wanted more tests which my doctors have refused. I’ve come to terms with the fact I do have type 1 and I’m just very lucky to be experiencing this sort of honeymoon! Ask for more tests if you need. I looked into private hospital 2 of which refused to do C- peptide or GAD testing. Hopefully you’ll accept it more as times goes on! I have (though still have doubts )

That is consistent with the insulin resistance associated with T2 diabetes. Can I ask where you are located (country)? T2 diabetes isn't unknown for young (almost always obese) people (particularly in the US) , but T1 is far more common. (DKA is far more common for T1s than T2s also) And I agree with @Goma5 that T1s can have a honeymoon period where their insulin production recovers. So I can understand why your doctor assumes T1 and does not consider T2. On the other hand, if you continue on a low carb diet and your insulin needs drop to zero, then I guess you'll know to go back to the doctor and ask for the T1/T2 tests.

But please don't mess about with your insulin doses without discussing with a medical professional. You don't want to have another DKA, because that could kill you.

My carb ratio has gone down from 1:10 to 1:20 and i stopped taking slow acting insulin completly, honestly with my age its pretty sure im T1 and its fine ill manage im very persistent in testing my BG and im getting Dexcom tomorrow wich will help alot. I think the thing that sticks in my mind its the abnormal amounts of sugars i use to consume before diagnosis and that 3 years ago they did ecographi and said i had huge amounts of fats on my liver. From Canada btw.
