Starbucks Grande Latte = 18g carbs!

Hi there.. yes last two days FBG were 5.3 and 5.4 phew..
Ha!! Excellent. The power of empty glycogen stores!!! 3 days was it??? You and an overload so perhaps a forth was needed. Or a good long swim haha.

Glad you're back on track!!

Still enjoying avo? Se anything in bs?

This article came up in my Facebook newsfeed. I had realised Starbucks coffees were more carby than other coffee shops but 18g in one drink! :woot:

I'll stick with Costa or Caffè Nero's small cappuccinos at 4.1 and 3.8 respectively. Although I'm renewing my liking for black coffee to save carbs for food. It takes me back to my student days when no one ever had any milk! :joyful:
Im thinkin its higher than 18 carbs

I saw the same story elsewhere and, as a Type 1, felt embarrassed that such a fuss was kicked up.

I'd have titled it "Type 1 forgets to bolus for large bucket of milk and gets totally expected high sugars afterwards".

It's sad if she's been diabetic that long and isn't aware that a) milk has carbs b) you need to holus for,it if Younhave any quantity, and c) that most chains havd carb info online.

I drink lattes and my sugars are fine after. I saw this as a bit of a non-story.

I agree that she should have been responsible for what she put in her mouth and should have known to check what the carb content was first. It says she's been diabetic for 28 years! It is shocking the amount of carbs in it compared to a can of Coke, maybe the sugar tax should be applied to hot drinks too? Perhaps she's trying to jump on the compo bandwagon?

As a carb-counting Type 1 of many years, it doesn't shock me :) And I don't think the sugar tax should apply to hot drinks like this as there was no sugar in it! (Not that I agree with the sugar tax anyway).

The news article I saw kept talking about "sugar" but it appears they actually mean the carbs from the milk. So that mention of "sugar" confused many people commenting on the article I read.

There's no reason at all why Type 1s can't drink lattes. This lady appears not to have understood that a Latte was largely milk and so needed a bolus.
