Starbucks low carb “frappachino”

I would call it mellow rather than bland but each to our own I suppose, it wasn’t really a good strong black coffee I was looking for today (my usual drink of choice) I wanted a nice creamy chilled drink.
 
Guess it depends on personal taste.
I steer clear of the big companies if I want a real coffee, and seek out the independent places. They are generally staffed by people who know their beans and blends, and will ask what my tastes are.

Sometimes, in fact usually, I use instant coffees at home. I don’t have the patience to grind beans and percolate the grounds. I am also a bit lazy in that respect.

Today has been particularly hot, and I haven’t felt like eating much. Iced coffee has sustained me. I do sometimes go out to buy one, but today just chucked a couple of teaspoons Alta Rica in a jug , dissolved in hot, not quite boiling water, added handful of ice cubes, and some whisked coconut milk. I repeated that twice, adding coconut cream to one. No syrups. No sweeteners. Like my coffee flavour to be most prominent.

but not sure about the sweetness of the erythritol . Though it seems to need that for the thickening.? Will definitely leave out the vanilla. That is just for ice cream. Not coffee or beer. Coffee should taste of coffee. Beer should taste of beer. But that is just may personal taste.
 
I agree @MrsA2, not made it myself but hubby made it once without the sweetener when it first became a social media trend 3 or 4 years ago, it’s very very intense and I don’t have a sweet tooth but it does need the sweetener to balance & actually enhance & round off the coffee flavour. Don’t give up on the whisking @Pipp - it takes an age & you begin to think it’s not working but it will! It’s not that stable especially made with sweetener, I kept some in the fridge afterwards for next day - looked fine when I went to bed after it had been there about 3hrs but was a murky puddle in the morning :(
 
I don't think the erythritol will do anything for the whipping/thickening. Just adds sweetness. The hard work is done by the blender.

Though this morning I had to go out and as I was passing a Starbucks, I thought I would try the recommendation by that famous influencer @lovinglife .
Tried the exact, same drink. Very refreshing, to my surprise. It wasn’t strong on coffee flavour, but if I wanted a strong coffee, I would have gone to my usual places. I could be a convert to this Starbucks concoction, especially on a hot day, as it had no impact on my BG levels. Glad I chose the recommended by our influencer caramel sugar free syrup, not vanilla, though. ;)
Will save the dalgona for another day. Soon. That whisking sounds like hard work on a hot day. :hilarious:
