Hi so I was diagnosed as type 2 last June time and immediately started on metformin as I was already eating healthy and working out several times a week weighing 75kg.
I was so disappointed becoming diabetic as I'd tried so hard to avoid it. Since Christmas I've been struggling with feeling exhausted and fitness felt like it was declining. After a few tests it was discovered the metformin wasn't working. So dose was maxed and siptagliptin was added . My Ac1 in August was 52 last month it was 85.
I have felt so ill with my heart racing with minimal exertion the last fortnight, gp told me I had a virus! Later that night I collapsed and was taken into hospital, something to do with ketones. Now I'm being told I'm not type 2 and probably have late onset type 1. I'm home with 2 different insulins and having to carb count everything. This is so much to take in!
