I am 76 and know I have been type 2 for 16years, I have had no objection to statins, especially when the GP practice's nurse said that all the nurses and GPs took statins. (All were 50 ;plus).
Some years ago, I suggested that my husband, also 76, took aspirin and statins, but he refused and I do wonder if the present situation would be different if he had agreed. Last month, he had a stroke and was diagnosed as type 2 with high readings that we are struggling to lower. The GP has said that he is doing fine, as medication has to be advanced gently , but I am quite shocked as I have never had readings like that, because I was just diet and exercise for many years. He now has to have statins and clopidogrel.
I suggested that my husband, now 76, started on statins and aspirin, a few years back, but he refused.
