Hi all
Ok, i am a little nervous, as i stopped takeing metformin a week ago because of the side effects (i was only on them for 14days)

However im still loseing weight‍♂️
I have packed away loads of food (1400-1600cal) just to keep my weight up slightly but its still coming off a week later with out trying.

So getting alittle nervous as not sure if its still a little metformin in me,thyroid, or something more sinister.

Sorry but 1400-1600 cals is the level they gave to participants in the Minnesota starvation experiment..

Why so little food?

Without knowing your macros (carbs/protein etc.) or your current weight/height and exercise etc. It is hard to guess but the level of calories you describe sound low, are you really sure you are eating enough? For an “average” male its around 2000 - 2500 calories a day.

As a 180cm male, with about 30 mins cardio a day and gym going etc. I am keeping average 73kg on approx 2500 calories a day. If I was eating the amount you describe, I would expect to be losing, and quite a lot)

1500 calories is in many respects the bare minimum for a male (not sure female). Any lower outside of medical supervision is not recommended.

What about fasting and low carb no sugar?
Im definitely not use to so many calories.
My exercise at moment is at least 2 hrs aday 5day as of last week.
Most of my food has been alot of fish and i have been haveing veg and a 2 to 4 (tops) of bread.
I would probably start the day with 30g porridge and protein powder.

But now im packing in even more food and ****

Perhaps im just over reacting, i dont know, hopefully have a blood test next week to find out either way.

Fasting is great however with porridge and bread your carb intake is likely higher than mine.

Meat is more nutritious than fish and more filling as well as having more "calories"

I eat twice a day at about 3-4 pm and at 7 pm

Big meals mainly meat.

I'm confused by what you are saying?
You are a Type 2 and have always eaten very few calories (is that right?). - So have you always been very slim?
There are a lot more slim Type2's than people realise estimated as much as 10% of Type 2's are slim i.r normal BMI or 'underweight.
I was always slim up to having my 3x Cardio Bypass at which point I was put on Statin and doubled down on my low fat high complex carb diet (I don't mean counting calories). That so - called healthy diet made me put on around 28lbs making my bmi 25 and gave me Type 2 diabetes.

Ditching the statins and going on a Low Carb High(er traditional) Fat way of eating reversed my diabetes (normal HbA1C) and made me lose weight even though the higher fat part of it increased my calorie intake.
I eat lots of fatty cuts of meat, fatty fish, eggs, nuts and cheese plus low car veg (strictly some of that 'veg' is actually fruit such as cucumber, tomato, avocado, courgette).
I never took any diabetes medication, but from what I understand Metformin takes about a week to build up and start working, so I suspect it takes at least that long to get out of your system. However it is an appetite suppressant rather than something that makes you lose weight (unless it gives you the trots). In fact anything which helps raise your insulin (almost all T2 drugs except those that make you pee out glucose) are likely to help you gain weight (because of the extra Insulin) rather than lose it!

Its extremely unlikely that ceasing Metformin has had any impact on your continued weight loss. With your low calorie intake and significant exercise it would be surprising if you were not losing weight.

Do you test your fasting blood sugars? What is your current weight?
