"The study, which was conducted by ETH Zurich in conjunction with University Children's Hospital Zurich, involved feeding mice two different types of diet (a ketogenic diet and a high fat diet, which causes the liver to become resistant to insulin"
It is also high salt, low potassium and very low magnesium which would mess up my homeostasis quite nicely. The disaccarides is high, presumably the dextrose/And why are they feeding mice on a keto diet something containing dextrose?
They are really interested in telling the weight loss/ slimming fad audience, or anyone considering taking that path who are otherwise normal (metabolism wise that is, not mental state).I think the real issue here is the media making blanket statements that the general population will just assume to be true because, you know, Science!
It has been shown here in a very short amount of time that the people in the know can quickly debate this article and pick holes in it if there are any, or indeed interpret it through a more realistic lens. It's Joe Bloggs T2 and anyone considering trying something new to change their life that may be put off by what is the equivalent of standing on a soap box shouting 'The floods are coming' because its raining.
I thought keto was all about the protein, with some fats, not nearly 90%+ fats? which is what those poor mice seem to have been fed.Exactly.. not exactly the keto I know and love..!
Apparently this is what they were fed.. doesn't look much like my food...

Thank you. This will take some reading to digest, but my first impression is that what they are seeing may well be liver dump that happens at the start of keto diet. They only gave the diets for 3 days,

Which is hereReport itself has
a ketogenic diet with 90% of calories derived from fat (Teklan TD.96355; Envigo, Huntingdon, UK
Oh now I have done that experiment on myself for 5 days. I can report that no zand was harmed in the experiment, but she did lose 6 pounds by eating lots of fat and felt a lot better afterwards. Does that make me a scientist?Report itself has
a ketogenic diet with 90% of calories derived from fat (Teklan TD.96355; Envigo, Huntingdon, UK
Also given that the words low carb and keto are often mistakenly used interchangeably, the rot could spread further. It just takes one BS article to then filter through and before you know it everybody is reading that the Keto diet is making people diabetic.
I thought hydrogenated fats were now know to be evil stuff and very harmful and banned in several countries.Vegetable Shortening, hydrogenated (Crisco) 586.4
Still legal for rats and biscuit eating humans. At least the human omnivores get a choice and get their dextrose and vegetable shortening baked into cookies with a coffee to dunk them into...I thought hydrogenated fats were now know to be evil stuff and very harmful and banned in several countries.
