Hello everyone.
I have just moved from living in France for eleven years, back to UK. Before I moved, my bsl had dropped from pre-diabetic into the 'normal' range with daily readings on average of 5.5. I achieved this with the LFHC way of eating. We are living in temporary accommodation until we can move into our new home at the end of October and although it's tricky to stick strictly to LFHC, I'm trying hard to do so. Even so my readings are now not below 6.0, on average 6.2. I'm sure this must be due to stress and there's lots of it! I'm trying to relax and not stress over things but it's not easy. I just hope that my levels will drop eventually. Any ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. Hope all goes well with the move, its not easy.

I am new to all this, but would perhaps ask how much exercise you currently do?
For some it raises bgl, but for some it drops it.

And are you sleeping ok?

Moving house is one of the top few causes of stress, and moving country must be equally stressful. With all that disruption and uncertainty hanging over you, your stress levels will be high and this will have a big impact on your blood sugar levels.

Taking time out for yourself, deep breaths, gentle walks, and restful sleep will all help.

Thank you. I guess things will settle once we are settled!

Hi, and thank you - much harder than I thought . . .
I exercise every day, a brisk thirty or forty minute walk in the country which also lifts my spirits! and yes, my levels fall after walking.
Not sleeping very well so I suppose that doesn't help either.

I'd suggest trying to make sure that you stick to your normal eating pattern. It sounds counter-intuitive but I find that skipping meals drives my blood sugar up. It's so easy to neglect your stomach when you are busy!

But my normal eating pattern has been LCHF for several months now and it has become second nature. My stomach has to be obeyed when it becomes demanding!! ;)
Thanks for your advice though :)

How about some retail therapy for your new home when it is ready? That would lift my spirits (although the depleted bank balance might not help!)

It could be a simple reaction to the colder climate - at this time of year it is natural to round up the herds fold the tents and move south to milder air - you have done the reverse.
It will probably all settle down once you acclimatise.

Coincidence here Steph. I know someone called Steph who lived for a spell in the same town as us in France, is moving back here and recently was moving house. The French post code we shared was 21170 (Burgundy) , which is pretty close to your user name. And yes, stress can play havoc with all sorts of things. Yoga perhaps?

Hi Jo - yes, coincidence indeed! You are right in that my post code in France (Midi-Pyrenées) 81170, is my user name. We lived in the Tarn, about an hour north of Toulouse. So much has changed in UK after 11 years but we'll adapt! Might try yoga or pilates but walking in the countryside helps.
