Stroke symptoms when having a hypo?

Hi

I have been experiencing what I would associate as stroke like symptoms during more severe hypo's. I recently thought I was definitely having a stroke and felt very fearful I was going die. This has happened 4 times in the last 6 months (approximately). My diabetes is pretty well controlled but I feel I am very sensitive to my blood glucose dropping very quickly.

I am wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences? Looking to reach out as its making me a bit scared

Thanks

Hi, cognitively. I’d say it was closer to some form of Alzheimer’s?.

I’ve no real issue with motor skills in the early stages anyway.

What BG lowering medication are you prescribed?

Hi @marcskinman

I've had hypo induced seizures when my bg has gone low enough for unconsciousness so I can imagine all sorts of symptoms happening at very low bgs. (Your brain goes into a very weird state).

But as @Jaylee says, how low is your bg when you get those symptoms and what medication are you one. (It would also help to know what kind of diabetes you have as advice is more relevant if it's from someone with the same type. If you go into your account details and fill out your diabtes type and medication it would help other posters a lot).

When you say stroke like symptoms what were they. I have had 2 strokes, and 1 TIA which i kept quiet about.

Hi,

I hear you.. My father had a mini stroke. Phoned me at work saying "I think I had a stroke." & I rushed him round the hospital. He waned no fuss. (He'd only bent down to pat the dog when it hit him?)
I feel after that, he may have "blagged" a couple more..?

Take care of yourself.

This looks like the sort of thing you'd really need a medical opinion on. If it was me, I'd want this info on my medical records.

Being self employed and the way the pandemic messed everything up. i just could not afford not to work. having had 2 strokes i knew what to expect, i sat with the phone just in case, and knew if necessary before 4 hours were up i could take a couple more Rivaoxaban if needed. The symptoms eased within the hour. Very faint left side weakness, but nothing as bad as before and extreme fatigue. So i thought i didn't need to drive for 4 days, so i should be alright. My wife returned from work that evening and said " can you go to mums tomorrow and pump the tyres up on dads car".

I get the sweats and generally if I don't act then, I go unconscious.

If I drop below 3, I'm scared and shaking. I eat an apple right away, rarely do I need more than that to get back up, and I sit quietly 'til better. Strangely or not, when I'm in the 3s, I feel euphoric and full of energy and then noticing that I'm feeling this way, I test and eat an apple.
