Does anyone have any guidelines to follow when picking one because I really can't make heads or tails of the one to buy, in terms of reputable brands, models recommended by experts, have the best Quality Assurance standards. I was hoping to find a 'Which?' style shortlist of options but couldn't find anything.

I'm not too bothered about price, a traditional blood measuring one would be fine as long as it gives accurate, consistent results.

There are just some many options though.

I am leaning toward one called GlucoMen Areo 2K because is 'exceeds all International Standards for accuracy and haematocrit compensation (ISO15197:2015)' as per the diabetes uk shop itself.

Are there any considerations I might be overlooking.

PS apologies if this was posted in the wrong section. I'm not sure where I should've posted this

Hi - we have a list - tagging @Rachox for the current version, please.

I have only ever used one meter - a Gluco RX Q. It is by no means the newest model and does not have all the bells and whistles that other newer meters do - but it works, seems to be accurate enough, and its strips are inexpensive. All meters have an allowable error factor which means results may be off from time to time. This research below is a bit dated now (things may have changed) but should give you a feeling for how they work.

Thanks for the tag @KennyA , hi @Es_1a , here’s some info on UK meters, and to be clear I have no commercial connections with any of the companies mentioned.

HOME HEALTH have the Gluco Navii, which is a fairly new model and seems to be getting good reviews.

Links to the strips for future orders:

Then they sell the older SD Code Free, details to be found here!

SPIRIT HEALTHCARE have a meter called the Tee2 + which is quite popular:

The strips are to be found here:

If there is a choice of units of measurement then ‘mmol/L’ are the standard units in the UK, ‘mg/dl’ in the US, other countries may vary.

Don’t forget to check the box if you have pre diabetes or diabetes so you can buy VAT free. (for all meters and strips)
