Hi @saffy I can't help you much because I'm T1 but I've had many years of not so good bgs in the past and I wanted to say that you shouldn't blame yourself for not having the best bg control. There are lots of reasons why many people struggle with their diabetes and victim blaming helps no one.

As regards the insulin, is your reason against it the weight gain? As a T1 who has struggled with weight gain for many years, I find that going relatively low carb has helped me lose weight and though I'm not quite where I want to be I'm near enough. But I've always prioritised my blood sugars over my weight.

And while 91 is high mine has been higher in the past so please don't give up. There are a lot of meds for T2s out there other than insulin so maybe you should talk to your gp about other options?

Good luck and virtual hugs.

But I've always prioritised my blood sugars over my weight.

I do the same, and whilst it isn't easy, I have seen my weight stop rising and even dropping very slightly, I use Ozempic. It is like a catch 22, lower your BG and your weight may drop. OR lose weight and your BG may improve. Just remember, if it was easy, there would be fewer T2's.
I have also gone very low carb and my reasoning is that if I don't put carbs in, I don't have to get carbs out.
Best of luck with your doctors appointment.

I’ve been a T2 for 5 years, was a shock and various reasons why but I have never been a big eater, in fact I’ve always been nagged by family I don’t eat enough.
I went Low Carb and still I eat low carb with just 2 medications. At the moment I am having challenges with the blood glucose rising and I suspect the new medication is not high enough change. I have to wait 2 wks for a general foot check, then tests to come back before I can see a diabetes Nurse although the new one is actually a dr! I hate the waiting games! I am and have been very keen to control my diabetes BUT there’s the problem, it’s not as controllable as one thought and it drives me potty.
I don’t know if you’ve thought about changing your diet and the Drs should be able to send you on a diet course, its finding creative ways to enjoy meals too
