I saw a sugar free, no calorie soft drink, but although the calories are listed as zero, there is a given carb count of 3g per 100ml.
I assume this is something to do with sugar alcohols being counted as carbs, but those carbs not being absorbed into the body as per usual. Still, I would like to get some feedback from the forum before I try it. (I know ultimately I can try it and test my bloods, but still, I'd like to know the mechanism etc)
    Ingredients were as follows:

Water, erythritol, flavorings, acidity regulators 330, 331 (citric acid/ sodium citrate) preservative 211 (sodium benzoate), sodium chloride, sweetener 955 (sucralose) sea salt

I can't really see anything in it that should constitute *actual* carb content, but do they include indigestible carbs in the nutrition info? It is listed as total carbs 3.0g per 100ml, erythritol 3.0g per 100ml.

Thanks in advice for any advice or experience you have to share on this!

Yes, total carbs (in the UK) include sugar alcohols that are not absorbed.

    Thanks Tricia,
    That makes sense.
I think I'll try it and test my bloods then.
