Ooo, you've got 'me' going now. I'm definately going to get some of the Werthers Originals, if I can find some. I get the Aldi sweets, but would like a change. :)

Pffft. It's all very well you lot going on about sugar free sweeties..what I want to know is when is some clever person going to invent low-carb salt and vinegar crisps?

Actually I would settle for cheese and onion if necessary..or smokey bacon..

S'not fair. :(

Now we are talking!

Went to USA last year and was gobsmacked at the amount of diabetic friendly sweets etc they have on supermarket shelves. :D ( Sorry no crisps), but loads of choice otherwise. Why are the choices here so limited. Also found some great bikkies in India! Seems that everyone has a better choice than us. Mega sulk!!!

On the subject of sweets, I got this for my dad. A gift box full of sugar free. Now this made his day

Might I suggest if you have the age old problem of when you open a packet you got to finish it. When you get a packet of sweets split them into smaller bags. 5 sweets to a bag. Or throw 5 lose sweets into your man bag/hand bag. That way when they are gone they are gone. And also it's a case if you miss one it's a lovely surprise when you come across it at a later date. I always buy dark chocolate and have a nibble now and again. Less is sometimes more.

I like my wine gums. I was in the habit of having two half-pound packs once a month. Now I know I mustn't eat them if I want to lose weight, and also they will upset my blood sugar levels. I think I could make my own with sugar free recipes, but I'd have to have three or four different flavours.

Does anyone have a recipe I could try? I'd probably make a tray of the mixture, then chop it into sweetie sized pieces.

TIA..

John

My father-in-law is diabetic (diet controlled) and has recently started ordering from these guys...apparently the cubes are made with Isomalt so no nasty after taste like many sugar free sweets - i can attest to this as have started nicking them when he's not looking :) - worth a look

Looked at the website and the sweets are not visually appealing, What is the texture like?

They actually lasted me 4 days and that must be some sort of record. I still have a mars bar in my jacket pocket from last week. Carried of course for hypo purposes.:D
I've a packet of refreshers in my bag since September in case I ever get a low. Bought them as I'm not really fussed on them and won't be tempted to have them.

What a good idea. Carry something that you find normally disgusting that is high in sugar / glucose content then you won't be tempted to eat it. I'm up for that.:D:D

Where they still as nice next day when the sugar alternative kicks in lol

I got the last three packs in Tesco on Monday they are lovely and taste like butterscotch mmmm I have only had one reading over 7 since Monday and that was an irresistible piece of toast which spiked me to 8.9 I also tried the Dominion from Aldi but they were not to my taste thanks to whoever it was came up with Werthers, lots in the pack too!
