First off, smoked paprika is soo good! I especially love on my cheese crisps.
We do have pickled herring in the Netherlands but I think it's much bigger in Skandinavian countries and Germany. I particularly liked a German dish consisting of potatoes and cold pickled herring in cream. Not so much now, too much potato for me.
