If you are not absorbing iron, consider the possibility of low vitamins - I think it might be D which is involved in the absorption - also pernicious anemia
Sorry we seem to have derailed your thread slightly talking about the delights of liver and bacon.
Were you thinking of taking them for anaemia or something else medical i.e. as an iron supplement?
Its okay Yes I was thinking of taking it to get my ferritin level up. My doc said that I could take a hron supplement to do that but every other iron supplement I tried has made me so nauseous that I had to stop taking it.
Can we take Liver powder capsules when diabetic ? I have read conflicting answers when I googled it, so that's why I am asking you guys. I thought you might know

Iron absorbtion needs Vitamin B12 to be present, and also Vit C and Vit D3. Plant sources of iron are not so readily absorbed in our bodies compared to animal sources. Spinach and some other plant sources especially also have oxallates and phytochemicals that prevent absorbtion, so althought the nutritional data published in the media claim these sources to be good replacements, they are in reality very poor sources for humans. Some foods such as Marmite and some vegetarian snacks are fortified with the necessary supporting vitiamins to help overcome the deficiecies. The other necessary supplement is folate (B9), which by law is added to bread and cereal products in the UK.
