Supplements Timing

That remark about laziness was a bit quick to voice! I'm constantly looking up medical and other things on The Internet! Not all pharmacists have the answers, but then neither do doctors or consultants!

@asparagusp this spring I started taking a cod liver oil capsule at the same time as my tablets, first thing in the morning. When in the summer my TSH was found to be sky high (I'm on 200mcg thyroxine daily) and the endocrinology department started talking about 'absorption issues' it dawned on me that perhaps my tablets weren't perhaps dissolving and being absorbed as they would have done without the oil being in the way!

Not proven, not tested the theory in any way, but out of curiosity I stopped taking the cod liver oil, and bam, all thyroid tests back to normal.

I feel that that particular supplement was having an effect on my medication. I don't take it any more because of this, but if I did I would want to have it at a different time of day to my tablets.

All sorts of things affect all sorts of things! It's hard to unpick it all - but based on my own experiences with stuff I just do the best I can!

:)

Interesting yes - cod liver oil in retrospect would have a bearing on TSH values. My thyroid is now normal but will seek reassurance that it's okay yo take it, albeit at lunchtime.
