surely there not all myths about high fats

I guess you're in a reasonably sized population area
No the complete opposite : 32 inhabitants Km2 I the department but in my commune only 18/km2 (some have as few as 6 or 7), there are more cows than people. (basically you have to drive to get to the shops , our local town doesn't have a big population either but serves a very big surrounding rural area)
Our HyperU isn't a bit like Waitrose, the people round here are mostly on very low incomes, and don't earn enough.

OK, so you still need to drive to the local supermarket, which does serve a large population, albeit over a more spaced out area than in the UK?
I have a 'local' town, which has the facilites your local town has, including the markets, the population density is probably similar for the ratio of actual landmass of the UK and france. My village hasn't, apart from the corner shop.
