I only use erythritol, both granulated & powdered as I find it has no aftertaste, plus has no effect on my BG. I did try Stevia but didn't like it at all, found there was an aftertaste.

I use Natvia which I think is erythritol and stevia combined. It's the best I've found but isn't terribly easy to get hold of e.g. Sainsburys don't stock it
Natvia is also one of my go-to buys. Ocado stock it and also Tesco who occasionally have good discounts on it.

I get my favourite alternative sweetener - an erythritol and stevia combo - from a specialist health food store. Such is the huge hike in the cost of food in Aotearoa/NZ (and other countries I understand, but we have a cartel-like supermarket and supplier issue going on in our fair isles) - my fave 'betta sweet' is out of my league in the size they only sell it in now. Still coping with what this means for my sweet tooth...

Thank you for your input, appreciate your time. I was only diagnosed in Dec so still so much to learn.

I just don’t have anything sweet. Can even eat rhubarb without.
Same here - dunno about rhubarb as I haven't tried it, but I went cold turkey on "sweet" and although I'd thought my tastes might change, I was unprepared by how quickly they did. Worth a try. Nothing lost if it doesn't work for some of you.

The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
I have gone off sweeteners, I very rarely have anything with a sugar substitute now. All of them give me a weird feeling at the back of my throat as if its gunked up. Takes days for it to go, possibly allergic I dunno

Thank you for this information. Does it have an after taste at all?
[Some] Stevia can/may do. If I remember my original research correctly there are 2 versions of stevia, and the more expensive stevia rebaudiana (reb-A) has less or no aftertaste. I've found that I may get a little aftertaste with pure stevia and some erythritol/steva combinations but Natvia is OK for me. I suspect that the amount we use and sensititvity of taste buds may well have an impact on how we react to it - and somtimes we can just get used to particular tastes or flavours too.

I use Stevia, although sparingly and, as others have mentioned, wouldn't have xylitol in the house as I have dogs.

Indeed. In my case a temporary shortage plus a heavy cold pushed me over the line.

When initially diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2003, sweeteners helped me to kick my sweet tooth habits, but I realised that eating sweetened foods reinforced my desire to round off meals with something sweet.

In time, my palate has changed and foods I once regarded as savoury, like tomatoes and onions for instance, now taste sweet. I have erythritol and stevia in my cupboard, but I seldom use sweeteners these days.

I've been a type 1 diabetic since the age of 10 and last week celebrated my 80th birthday.I've been using sweeteners since then ,starting with saccharines and now using sweetex.I sweeten fruit with sucralose from Aldi.I don't use it very often and now find my current one is out of date by 15 months !
The only cancer I have had was anal cancer which didn't require chemo or radiation as it was discovered very early and excised within three weeks of discovery.
As a footnote sweets came off ration in February 1953 and I was diagnosed in February 1954.
