Hey everyone, I’ve been managing Type 1 for 14 years, but the last 2-3 years weight loss has been extremely tough since switching from pens to a pump. I’m 40 now, playing soccer 4 to 5x/week, lifting weights, and watching my diet (tracking carbs/calories), but fat loss feels impossible, especially around the middle. Age might be a factor, but I suspect higher insulin doses/spikes from the pump are playing a role in fat storage.

Has anyone else hit this wall? What worked for you to drop fat while keeping BG stable? Tips on lowering insulin needs, low-carb tweaks, exercise timing, or pump hacks? Any help/tips are highly appreciated!

i've found swimming had a significant impact on lowering blood sugars with the added bonus of burning off excess fats. went from XL to SMALL in lightweight trousers in less than 7 months have also done a fair bit of walking.

Aerobic exercising should help reduce the amount of insulin you need to inject. I'd of presumed you have done a course such as dafne which should of explained how various exercises/time of activities effect on insulin. I found exercising before and after meals helped a lot. I will state that the DSN/Consultant have both mentioned im in a honeymoon stage type1...

It may also perhaps be worthwhile asking for a referral for a diabetic dietician with the goal of weight loss. You seem pretty active muscle weighs more than fat :)
