I don't know if officially T2's can have a honeymoon period, so I will explain what I mean.
After hitting low carb running in March after diagnosis, I found that most of the symptoms of arthritis I have suffered from for 18 years eased. It got better to the point where I was doing many of the things I had been unable to do all those years. Life was amazing and I felt 20 years younger.
At the beginning of this week I found that the arthritic pain in my knees began to return, and quite badly. I had reduced the amount of Naproxen I had been taking, but have found I am back to the prescribed dose, in an attempt to ease things. I had also pretty much stopped the pain killers, I have had to go back on to those as well. This morning, the pain sadly, has returned to one shoulder as well.
The one major difference between now and then is no inflammation. I used to swell terribly which was part of the reason I lost 90% of my mobility. This time there is no swelling at all just pain. I am looking at this or at least trying to, from a glass half full perspective. I have always had so much more trouble in cold weather than warm, so wondering if it could be that? I am still fully mobile and still doing all I have been able to, I just have to manage the pain. I also appreciate the weight loss could also be a contributing factor to the no swelling issue, as I am a lot lighter than I was.
Has anyone else had this kind of 'honeymoon' period, and how did it/has it worked out for you? Feeling a bit gutted about this, as like diabetes I knew arthritis can't be cured, but it had regressed to a very mild form, where I have been unlucky enough to suffer from a rare aggressive strain. I am just hoping with Naproxen and pain meds, I can carry on as I have been, and it doesn't take me back mobility and what I am able to do now wise.
