Big massive Thank You to everyone on here who set me on the Lchf diet!!
Went to the docs and I've lost (deleted) 10kg over the Christmas period ;). Very happy
Doc put me on Janumet 50/850 x2 a day and metformin 850 at lunch, have a sour stomach and wind ( let's not go there!) but blood sugars down ;)

Seriously thank you so much! Made a good start to weight loss and only because of the advice I got here! And now I'm kinda in the swing of it finding it easy to do;) meat salad and nuts ;)
Doc said oh but you should add some carbs like porridge in the morning lol, I smiled thinking if you saw my 14:6 sugar spike you wouldn't say that!! Nod and smile, yes dear of course I will give that a try (Errm NO!!)
Thanks you beautiful people!! I appreciate you so very very much xxo xxo

Thanks Guys;). @Bluetit1802 blood sugars have been still too high, hence the doc put me on janumet and metformin, bringing my metformin total to 2550 mg a day, since Friday, blood sugars are down! Even had a 5.5 reading!! Affecting my tummy big time but gonna give it a good month. ;)

Hi and well done. Can I ask what your age and BMI are? The possibility of LADA lurks in the background if your HBa1C remains high despite low-carbing and being normal BMI. I'm slightly surprised you are on both Janumet and Metformin as Janumet includes Metformin and Januvia. I would have expected either Janumet or Januvia & Metformin but who am I to challenge the GP and as long as you are within the max dose for Metformin no problem. Yes, you are right ref the porridge and the GP has been reading the wrong books on that one!

Hello clairemcg, if the metformin( very high dose) upsets your tummy too much , ask for the metformin slow release, they always start us off on the cheap version first...the sr version is dearer but easier on the stomach, goog luck

@Clivethedrive I will ask for Sr next time, I'm extremely lucky as I live in Ireland (quit uk 7years ago) and the health care here isn't like the nhs, so asking for something more expensive isn't frowned on (not by my doc anyway)

Yes that is a big dose of Metformin and I'm sticking to LcHf 100%, I fear my diabetes was fairly advanced when diagnosed last November, and my Gp wants it controlled asap, as do I ;). Have really found metformin to work as a appetite suppressant as well
