Temptation. . .

Just a quick post really to say a happy valentines to everyone whether alone or in a relationship and to plead with people not to give in to temptation with all these sweet treats etc that have swamped the shops, don't let today get you down (it's just another money making day).
We don't need chocolates and sweets just because it's the 14th feb, we can do this!
I had to get that out, I have a type 1 friend who is already munching her way through a big box of choccys :stop: and to me it's just ridiculous. Have a wonderful day everyone

My darling wife this year, came up with a good alternative to the choccies. A heart shaped container of strawberries and some creamy greek yogurt.

My sister in law last easter came up with an ingenious set of easter eggs for me, pickled quail eggs, fresh quail eggs, duck eggs etc. It was much kinder to my digestive system than the Thorntons Diabetic Chocolate Box Mix that Mrs Yorks got me.

I bought the wife a big box of chocolates milk tray but strangely it doesn't bother me anymore, would have been a time it would have killed me to even be carrying them in the bag, like frodo and the ring lol, luckily i must be over the habit, i do find valentines day a ridiculous money making scam but hey ho for a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates i get a kiss and a quiet life, seems a small price to pay :)

happy valentines day ladies :) (and men if your that way inclined :) )

i hate to bring up JELLY but if you empty out the egg part with a little whole in one end of the shell and wash it out well, you can pour jelly in the hole, put them in the egg box and refrigerate, its a JELLY alternatives to eggs at easter

done the jelly eggs when was a kid, what a faff.

I bought my other half soem bars of very good quality high cocoa solids chocolate, from single countries or single estates - much better value than the ubiquitous heart shaped box.

I must be very odd. I just do not have a sweet tooth, so giving up sweets and chocolate when I was diagnosed was easy peasy. I rarely ate them anyway. Same with cakes and biscuits. Just not my cup of tea. Now ....... chips are a different matter altogether. Lol.

Happy Valentines Day to everyone!

The chocolates don't bother me.
However, I can't pretend that I'm not giving in to temptation... I'm being taken out to a chinese restaurant and it's a set valentines menu. So it's now just a case of guessing how high my hyper will be later! We don't go out for meals together and I've not eaten chinese since before I was diagnosed, so I figure that once a year isn't going to cause much havoc.

It's our anniversary today and I've just eaten a chocolate from the box of Black Magic that I bought her (did get flowers as well) my bg was 4.2 so that's as good as an excuse as any :)

Mo, the description really does not do it justice.

It was a dinner with a client and he picked the starters beforehand. Apparently it's a roman speciality.

did you ever have a steak in rome? fair enough they didnt quite get the concept of well done but i didnt expect it to be running round the plate mooing

did you ever try frogs legs? i could never had ordered them but i was with someone who did, omg they look like frogs legs! :yuck: that image will live with me forever, poor kermy :(
