Testing strips

I’ve just called the gp surgery to order my test strips as I’m running low and they said they would have to check with the doc as I only ordered some 2 weeks ago but they are only giving me 100 at a time which on average testing 5 times a day is not going to last a month! I expect this to increase when I go onto the pump as well.

Anyone else experience gp’s being tight on the test strips, very frustrating when we are legally required to test before driving etc etc

I had the same problem a few years ago when i did the DAFNE course (DAFYDD here in Wales) I got a letter off the DSN who took the course and never had a problem since

Hopefully it was just the scripter or who ever you spoke to on the phone being ultra cautious, hopefully they checked with the Doc who then said of course you can have them as your T1.............there is however a letter floating around the internet from NICE that puts it nice and simple that GPs can't restrict T1s testing strips, maybe search the forum for it, if needed, hopefully not fingers crossed.

Many thanks everyone I have to ring back later on to see what the gp says but I’m sure they are just doing what they have to do because I have ordered them before the “date” I asked her to request they increase the amount they give me so that I don’t have to reorder quite so often
