Okay, I have now tested a lot of foods and know they are safe and don't spike my blood sugar at all What I am wondering is, once I have done that do I still need to check my levels @ 2 hours when I have those foods or do I just take it for granted they are checked and safe so no need to? I always test anything new I try but am thinking that once something gets the green light that it's okay to eat without checking over and over the same foods. Silly question I know but I would rather ask than not be sure

I've not been testing for years now. I checked that after meals was under 8mmol/l and kept on eating the same meals. Just a few checks revealed levels were dropping, and then my HbA1c was no longer in the diabetes range - job done, I thought.

Because of other factors (exercise, alcohol, sleep, time of day etc.) it's best check a few times to make sure meals are consistently OK. After that there is no need to check except to monitor if your insulin production, insulin resistance etc. is getting better or worse.
