The Cost of Low Carb

I would agree a Keto Diet is a bit more expensive, I tend to do a High Protein Keto Diet so I end up buying a lot of meat and fish which all adds up, on the other hand though, I tend to snack a lot less so save money in this regard.

Overall I'm a lot healthier as I tend to eat a lot of green veg whilst doing Keto, so I think its more than worth the extra expense, I try and plan and stock up on Keto Specific products and orders from amazon.com or sites like carbfreezone.com as well which helps to keep tabs on costs, as specialised items can tend to cost a lot in

Is it right that you can do Keto without meat or fish, but with milk, eggs, cheese?

Why not? Doesn't seem much of a problem to me to eat eggs or milk products where you would otherwise choose meat.

I’m struggling to think what is keto specific that I buy. Erythritol? But then I’d buy a sweetener anyway as I just can’t kick that teaspoon in my morning cuppa. Online it’s similar cost. Occasional almond or coconut flour? But no normal flour and no grain products.

What were you referring to?

I have found my food bill is about the same, as when I purchased carby food,

Keto protein bars are bit expensive but I stock up on them when they are on special, We shop at farmers markets when they are on on the weekends. Most small crop farms around our have a honesty box stall out by their front gate

We do not drive around looking for the cheapest pricess as this costs extra money in fuel.

I have found low-carb to be a little more expensive, because my carb drug of choice was pasta and that stuff is cheap. Now that meat is taking up a bigger place in my diet, I'm trying to be more conscious about the quality and sourcing, so that does drive the cost up as well.

I find it helps to eat lots of eggs and cheese. I can get a lot of nutrition form a small bit of cheese, which works out cheaper than the equivalent nutrition in the same size bit of meat. Milk is also good, or cream, and cheaper than meat. I dont eat meat often, partly due to cost, and part due to simply not liking red meat and having chicken instead. A whole chicken last me several days.

All my food is gluten and dairy free due to being gluten and dairy intolerant. Recently diagnosed as prediabetic and I haven't seen our food bill increase now I am on low carb as well. We buy shops own brand wherever possible and non organic which keeps the cost down
