Me being someone that dresses a little formal when I go out I always feel like when I ask the pharm tech for NEEDLES I always get this quick moment where I'm being judged.
I was wondering, does anyone else feel like they get The Look when asking for syringes?

It always seems to me that no one cares what I buy or what I do. Sometimes people don't notice if I give myself an injection while sitting next to them in a cafe. At first, I thought these people were just being polite, but then I realized that they really didn't notice.
"Oh, I didn't know you had diabetes"
"but I gave myself an injection in front of you 5 minutes ago"
"I didn't notice"

Hi and welcome @BTooSweet Are you based in the US ? Can you explain in more context about your question ?

In the UK we get needles on prescription so no need to ask.

Bigotry, reliance on unsupported 'facts', unkindness, unfairness.
I’m happy to inject myself wherever, whenever, though it can be a shivery experience on cold days.
The only time I met with The Look was years ago in a train carriage: I took out one of the old syringes, those big glass and steel ones, injected myself, and looked up just in time to catch the older woman opposite me turning to her husband and whispering ‘junkie’.
I didn’t bother to explain at the time but looking back, I should have. I think I was amused, but it was a missed opportunity to educate.
Maybe if asking for needles at the pharm tech feels embarrassing then you could ask for ‘insulin needles’.

Don't use them myself, but our cat needed them. I avoided the whole thing by ordering online, I even wrote a note that they were for the cat and everything. But if you go to the same place every time, they should know you after a while, and know you're diabetic.

Mountain out of mole hill makers ,queues , crowds , shopping on a Saturday hmm just shopping I guess no matter what day it is
Not used syringes for ages but never had a problem with it I’m sure the pharmacist who gave them to me didn’t judge me plus anyone standing next to me can have as big a problem with it as I’m not bothered. Diabetes has never been anything I’ve hidden and would never, was told once I don’t look like a diabetic hmm so glad I look normal then with 2 bums 3 heads and tartan hair hehehe
