been type 2 and the fact i get no sodding help from the NHS at all
Hi

Last few says I'm struggling to get any blood out my fingers for testing. Even with lancet on deepest setting. Think skinned now ? Maybe too much testing makes the skin thicken up ?

If you use the lancets several times they become blunt. Perhaps this is what has happened.

Try to totate the fingers and you can try running fingers under warm water before to improve circulation.

Try the side of your thumb near the nail I seem to have more blood in my thumb than in my fingers:confused:

hi steve, you can damage your tissues by constant BGs testing and this will also cause false readings due to the inflammation in the areas and will thicken the tissues, i have seen it in many patients.I tend to use the same lancet for about 10 readings but then I have been bought up to be careful with things ,i wash my hands in a nice warm basin of soapy water. and use the most lightest jab on the sides of my ring or little finger, so that I don't interfere with the sensitivity and nerve ends of my finger, taking the smallest amount of blood possible, I don't worry if its not the right thing to do anymore because I know I am being carefull with what I eat now, its amazing how quickly things heal when BGs are within normal limits again.
However, I do have days when I do really stupid things and fall of the waggon and find it difficult to be so bloody good, and patient i could scream.lol

You can do AST (alternative site testing) but you'd need to speak with your diabetes team first on how best to approach this. I find cold fingers is hard to draw blood from so always warn them up first.
