Please look up the leading cardiologist Dr Aseem Malhotra. He does not advocate whole wheat at all!!

Please, please if you have facebook or google, please look at what he is saying. He is one leading Cardiologist that is sticking his head above the parapet and does so much work outside of his normal day job to try and spread the word that carbs are emoty value....

And as early as 1797 John Rollo, a Royal Artillery surgeon, was treating (a couple of) diabetic patients with a low carb diet. It's nothing new and was well known as a treatment in the pre insulin era.

It's only in the last 30-40 years that we've been wrongly persuaded to eat low fat high carb diets, and seen the increases in obesity and diabetes.

Having read the various sections on here, I am pretty sure I used to be hypoglycaemic at school - fifty years ago. I was certainly close to collapse a couple of times in my 20s, and then I began to low carb. I found Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution after that, and when I stuck to eating low carb foods I was fine. Now I have a meter I know that potato pushes up my BG levels and it stays up for hours. At least I've got to be 65 years old in fairly good health - or at least reparably so.
