This is what diabetes uk tell T2 diabetics via their website...

This is what I mean, everyone can cope or not cope with certain foods, but it does seem to be a lot of carbs for type 2's bodies to cope with in one hit ? !!
I would have a veggie sausage hot pot , with maybe some beans mixed with veggies ...
Like bluetit I do have the odd potato ...so one or two some people might have , I prefer mine roasted though with olive oil, I would not choose to cook them with a lovely casserole ....not bread as well , I never did that before I was diagnosed ...

Sorry ..not baked beans , never have them ...I would use beans like buterbeans , chickpeas etc ...

Possibly Adrian but bear in mind, most T2's don't get a meter and strips so they wouldn't know. Also, prolonged periods of elevated levels can lead to complications, even if they eventually drop. A good guide ( if you can test ) is not to rise more than 2mmol from pre-meal reading to post meal reading. Also, to get levels back to pre-meal reading within 2 hours. This is only a guide but it's quite a good one.

Yes it would. I'm good at coming down quickly, but I prefer to be down at 2 hours, and that 12 was a 2 hour reading. but I was 5.2 before next meal Phew!
well surely if you know that you have control, it wouldn't hurt once in a while, if it's something you like that much.

Right, I wasn't aware of that.

Beans strained, half a small tin, I can get away with,
That sausage meal would, (no exaggeration) would be so bad for me, without the bread!

My spike would be about 15, and put me in hypo heaven a couple of hours later! Even with my meds, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!

What they are putting out there is tantamount to telling diabetics to slowly kill themselves!
What do you need terrorists for? Instead of a meter give them a pistol to play Russian roulette!
It's crazy!!

It is astounding that this advice is still being given. No other diabetics that I have spoken to will take on board the content of the discussion, in fact only yesterday one told me that unless her nurse or Dr told her to stop eating her daily porridge and banana she would carry on doing it. Her BS late morning was 14.4 as she tested whilst I was there!!!!!

Why on earth would you keep doing that to yourself? All meds stopped working for me suddenly last spring, I was seeing my GP weekly, and I mean weekly, banging down his door as we went through all options, none of which worked. I then got an emergency appointment to see the consultant for insulin.

I have managed 35 grams of carbs today, I am on it big time to try and get everything under control properly and long term. A1C is 6.5 currently.

I get the same reaction Ali H. When other diabetics ask me how I've lost so much weight and that I look great for it, when I tell them what I eat as against what I've been told to eat by the NHS, they think it's wrong. Then they go into denial mode and say things like "Well I'm gonna eat exactly what I want, when I want and F**K the consequences". "I can't be ***** with counting carbs and calories and all that S**T".
What can you say to someone with that sort of mentality?:(

Right
4:37pm = 12.4
18:04pm = 10.2
View attachment 11552 getting there:D:D
Oh my that really is shocking..... I have never seen languishing levels like that and I come down PDQ from whatever level. I wonder if you were still on the rise at 16:37 and if so what did you go up to?

@poshtotty OK another stabbing at 7:10pm = 7.2

so started at 12.4.......4:37pm
10.2......6:04pm
7.2.......7:10pm

Slowly but Shirley:D and tingling face is almost back to normal again.

How about "I hope you have paid for your funeral plan"

yeah, that would probably go down quite well:D:D Perhaps I should start carrying plans in my pocket, could make a killing (pardon the pun):D:D
but not as fast as DUK.

Just binned my literature from the Desmond course that I came across and ordered Bernstein for my Kindle lol.
