As the title says, seems taking a new (to me) medication has caused Thrush. I will speak to my diabetes nurse but I need to understand what my options are here as the medication appears to work really well but all that glucose shedding in my urine is going to cause a challenge long term as I can't continually use thrush cream.

My Hba1C is 56 but the challenge is to get it lower - Canaglifozin in combination with my 1000mg metformin/day is what they say will work, my CGM shows its working so they aren't spinning me a line. Without the Canaglifozin there is no detectable sugar on the strips...... 3 days in and it's at the top end of the scale.

What do you guys do who take this med?

I can't see how you can pee out glucose (effect of Canaglifozin), without encouraging UTIs.
I'm being Captain Obvious here, but if you don't put so much of the glucose into your blood stream in the first place, then
A). There is less to come out in the urine
B). Little BG means little need for Canaglifozin in the first place.

In general, the more Carbohydrates eaten the greater the glucose produced, the higher the BG is. Use a BG monitor to see which foods have the greatest BG effect.

That is indeed a known side effect of this type of med. It goes with the territory. (or to put it another way, you go more often). I am on its bigger brother(Dapaglifozin) and that is worse. These meds can cause genital gangrene (Fournieres gangrene) so it is important to keep that area very clean and dry. Any sign of nappy rash or open wounds from blisters needs immediate attention.

The other side effects from these meds is not in the patient leaflet, but is often treported in the forum

severe constipation leading to anal fissures
Noticeable increase in flatulance (freaks my cat out)

I have suffered these too on low dose. I will be asking my GP to stop this med, but my cardiollogist is insisting I continue it.
