Thrush

Keep your blood sugars as low as possible, treat the thrush and treat sexual partners too, even if they have no symptoms. Wear natural fabric underwear, no man made fabrics. Hope that helps.

Metformin

Thanks Ken - Whilst thrush isn't usually associated with taking Metformin, I'm sure it can happen - especially if your numbers are running a higher than ideal.

As @Rachox suggests, keeping your numbers tight, and ensure if you are treated, any intimate partners should be treated too, orr thrush ping-pong can get a grip.

Have you had a chat with your Doc about this issue?

Charis, it is possible to have thrush without elevated blood sugars, but for those with diabetes, high numbers really do increase the chances of it developing.
Yes agree with that suffered for years , but was unable to get rid when numbers were really high and it was only when the numbers dropped the thrush went . Medication can cause it and stress too when the immune system is low .

Agreed.

If you have high blood sugar levels the sugar can migrate into skin pores. This is a free lunch to fungal infections. Try Canesten athletes foot cream for external skin issues (not just feet). This is usually good at stopping itching.

DO NOT put anything on your delicate private parts that isn't designed for that area!

Hi. Thrush is most often caused by high blood sugar so this needs to be kept down below around 11 mmol. It's caused by the body's natural candida and not something you 'catch'. Ointments such as Canestan can help but not cure thrush as high sugar is the probably the cause.
