It's a good idea to have a small snack just before bedtime. This will help counter the nocturnal "liver dump" which could actually raise your BG while you sleep. A good snack is....any suggestions?

That nocturnal liver dump will always occur and is nothing to do with you being diabetic. Your liver has done this everyday of your life (I think) as it reckons it's a great idea for you to have some glucose in your blood stream so you wake up with loads of energy and raring to go.
The problem comes that because you are Type 2 you suffer from insulin resistance so the insulin response that is sent out to mop up the excess glucose that works fine in a non diabetic isn't working well in us so we see that as the dawn phenomenon effect of raised levels.
What I found was as I got better levels so that nocturnal dump lessened considerably. It took weeks but now while my first reading is still the highest I get all day its nothing to worry about.
