To iPhone or not to iPhone?

Hello,

My old iPhone has just died on me; won't respond to any resetting tricks, pleads or threats.

When I got it about 2 1/2 years ago it seemed to me to be so far ahead of any of its pretty useless competitors that there would be no question of me going back to another phone, but now with the arrival of so many smart phones competing for that iPhone market do you agree?

Is there currently a better phone than the iPhone (by which I mean the iPhone 4s)?

Thanks

Think you either love or loathe Apple generally. I loathe them and always have so its Android for me every time both with my phone and my pad. If you like the Apple business model and liked their previous offerings I would probably stick with Apple.

Dont get a Blackberry. I had one given to me free (second hand) and it is one of the most complicated phones ever and you have to pay £5 a month just to get services that are standard on any other phone. EG. if you dont pay you wont be able to send or receive mms 's which i use alot. You wont be able to set up wifi or internet services. This £5 is in addition to your top up if you a payg customer.

i got iphone 4s love it, but got contract with orange, just seen tmobile, there contract is fab, best contract

iPhones are definitely great phones - but Android phones are equally as good (if not better) in almost every department! The iPhone also has a massive price difference compared to other phones! Have you seen Google's Nexus S or any of the new HTCs? They're just as good, well, better than the iPhone - without the iPhone price.

Also depends on what you want from your phone - the App Store has about 200k more apps than Android's alternative, Google Play!

Couldnt agree more Admin, I've never been an Apple fan as I have never liked being told what I can and cant do and Apple is all about doing everything 'their way' which I abhor. Highly restrictive practices IMO.

The range of Android phones nowadays are just as good as anything Apple can produce but you are not tied to iTunes and can copy content freely from phone to your computer or any other device whenever you want. And as for the apps there is not much that you can get for the iPhone now that is not available for the Android, and any new app that proves a winner is quickly re-engineered by those who can for other platforms.

I would always choose PC over Mac and Android over iScam every time :D

Agree my Android HTC does everything an iPhone does and more and costs less. Its a complete fallacy that Apple anything is better or more reliable, they've always sprouted that rubbish and its never been true. What Apple is exceptionally good at is marketing as shown by how much they can get people to pay for their average offerings. Apple is now in a similar position as IBM was with the original PC's back in the early 1980's. At the moment its in a position of dominance but only until the public realise that they are getting ripped off and discover there is a better cheaper solution out there. At that point their business model will collapse just as IBM's did to the PC compatible producers like Dell and Compaq etc. It's why Apple keeps suing its competitors like Samsung and others as they realise the game is up and are protecting their profits for as long as possible to the detriment of the general consumer.
