Obviously I'm sorry that Tom Hanks has got this diagnosis and I wish him well.

I'm also incredibly impressed and thankful that he has chosen to share the news, especially given all the adverse publicity T2 has had in recent months. (- or was that just in this country? - I thought the Americans loved a good witch hunt?)
Can't help wondering if Dr Chris Steel and that bloke form Cardiff Uni stats department have heard the news and how they're going to explain it away.

Poor Tom. He could employ me to give advice on low carb cooking.

Apparantly Halle Berry was diagnosed as a type 1 because she had diabetes but was fit and healthy. However, she weened herself off insulin so she's now been diagnosed type 2.

If I thought of the kids at school who went on to be doctors, dentists and lawyers, I'd never trust anyone ever again.

No finer actor than Tom Hanks, here's hoping he copes well and continues to make some excellent movies

Strange how the media change their attitudes depending on who is involved. I read about this in The Express today which is usually on the stereotypical treadmill of type 2, unhealthy lifestyles, overweight blah, blah blah.
Well regarding Tom Hanks it says....

"Diabetes is the result of the body not producing enough insulin and can be triggered by extreme weight fluctuations. Dramatic changes in weight with no obvious explanation can also be a symptom of the condition."

So basically the excuse for him getting it is not that he is fat and lazy, it's because he has had to put on and lose weight over the years for various film roles which are detailed previously in the article.

Fascinating ain't it

Just saw Tom Hanks talking on the ITV news at 10. He talked about losing and gaining weight for the film roles, he was asked what are his guilty pleasure's and he said it's Pizza's, he definitely has a love of Pizza's.
I think he said he was 57? and he has to look after the temple, I think that means his body. So it looks like he will have to go easy, or give up on those Pizza's then :eh:

I do like the man and a pretty good actor too :)
