Too high readings

I take novorapid during the day and 16 units of Lantus at bedtime. What makes my readings jump up to 20 about mid morning? I usually take around 8 units novorapid before breakfast ( tea and toast) and can't fathom out how it then jumps so high sortly afterwards? Do I need more Lantus?

Toast won't be helping your blood sugars in the slightest.
Sugar in the tea?

I agree with @bulkbiker toast has the potential to get you sugar levels in double digits even if its brown bread, sourdough bread or any other variation of wheat flour bread. I can say this with complete conviction because i have seen it time and again with my own readings and Infact it was this awareness that led me to LCHF diet. @bulkbiker 's story on dietdoctor website also helped as did the book "The diabetes code" written by Dr. Jason Fung.

Also note that sometimes Novorapid can just be a long way from rapid at times, I know when I was still using it I needed to take it a good 20-30 mins before breakfast otherwise there was a monster spike in the waiting
