Edited...

I don't know what a cde is. It depends on when your dietitian was trained and whether there they have kept up with the latest research. If they tell you to eat carbs, grains and fruits then you should come back here.

a cde here is a certified diabetes educator
they gave me a plan of 1300 calories
with 4 oz protein 1 tbsp fat
free veggies from their list
and the fruit grain milk of 15 choices of 15 grams each

but what im confused about is
why would the dr not let me switch insulin routines?
shes basically leaving me to eat just omad
as i need 1 needle tip for the toujeo and 1 tip for a meal (im supposed to take the rapid insulin
even in non carb meal) i only can afford 2 needle tips (and yes i have the available supplies assistance)
or to reuse tips
or to only use rapid for 1 meal and then end up with a worse
a1c as it gets worse without enough rapid insulin
is this normal practice?
this is why i think she only saw the a1c under 7 and ignored everything i said

Where do you live?

Need to go back to basics here.

What are you eating in a typical day?

I have insulin on repeat, but for some reason, not needles. I tend to use one needle per pen unless it goes wrong and stops working.

well
not such good news now
again
gained some of the last weight i lost off insulin
now being back on it again
i made sure i didnt eat too much this time
to make sure it wasnt food related gain
at least as far as calories goes

seems like all i can do to keep the weight down
(even if it is too high at least keep it the same)
is to eat foods that bother me physically and mentally
(food intolerances and not wanting to eat animals)
and stops the weight gain and ravenous hunger
and i have to not look at my numbers this causes
with no insulin

i appreciate the help from everyone here
its very helpful and supportive to me

i likely can
i havent priced them yet
diet or woe(way of eating)

so like say 1 week soups on for
2 bucks a can thats what i might be eating
for the next week or 2
its hard with a few bucks a day for food
its hard to make diet or woe be any help
to improve things

possibly some good news?
cross your fingers and toes

yesterday i got a call from an endos. secretary
i get to have a 30 minute appt. in nov. by phone
she gave me a list of things he needs
like bs numbers my bp my weight and height
i will have to update the med list he gets from
the drugstore though
but hoping something comes from the time
usually its all about their agenda the stuff they wanna know
so im having all their numbers handy so we can get
to my concerns
i can post the results back here
in case someones curious and wants to know
how it goes
so at this rate i should use my insulin
and take numbers so i have something to give him
hoping though that i dont gain too much more weight
its a long while til nov 1st
anyway thanks every1
i will be back
:)

Can you make your own soup? If you look at the ingredients on the cans you might find they contain nasties that will raise your glucose.

mean people, corrupt politicians, poverty, happy pharmaceutical ads;
im beginning to think the whole dr and medication thing
is a farce
they say these meds help
and when you get side effects there are others to try
they give you meds and then limit your control when you can/need adjustments
all based on 1 number, 1 number regardless where the rest are (a1c)
they wont let you try other meds when you need to
and this is not based on hypos (i know theres a big fear out there drs have)
ive tried ive really tried
and i dont have the option of a second opinion
im sick of half measures
the lies and deception they give us
i quit i totally quit
the whole dr and meds thing
thankyou for reading

I do wish doctors could spend more time with their patients.. In my experience commercial fields, such as banks for example, or agents in the consumer area, are more than willing and even invite you to discuss any problems you might have sometimes taking up to an afternoon, and checking up on the outcome of your meetings with them by their own initiative. I believe that an even an excellent doctor cannot possibly investigate and treat a case within 5-20 minutes per appointment correctly.

ive been eating things like canned beans
lentil soup kraft dinner
i had to quit the dairy many years ago but cheese and maybe a bit of cottage cheese
and quit most meat
due to intolerances
and my rapid insulin use has went way up

my last a1c was 6.8 on low carb

Cutting meats and dairy, significantly reduces your protein and fats. I know the beans can raise these up again. But reducing them will increase your carb intake, which we know can lead to diabetes!!

My suggestion would be to research gut microbes. There are drinks on the market which can help but they should be supplemented with good quality fibre, as that’s what the microbes need to eat. These reduce gut inflammation which in turn reduced my intolerance of certain nuts and other foods. By doing the same you may be able to increase your dairy and meat products again. At very least that will make meal time a little more interesting.

As for persuading your GP to alter or change your meds, it’s all about timing and approach. But you do need to research your options thoroughly. If the GP believe that the meds your are on are doing the job, they will keep you on them. Make your suggestion after a blood test and use the results as leverage. I don’t expect it to be easy but if you persevere and pester them enough you should get your way eventually.

But do be sure that what you are asking for is the right thing for you. Get your GP to explain, with details, why they have you on the meds and dose that they have you on. Specifically asked them about the side effects and press your point if you do not agree. Take notes with you, if it help. It will also show them that you have done your research.

Good luck.

It's a tricky one, but canned beans are really quite a high carb option. Could you eat eggs? Limiting yourself from eating animals puts you in a tight spot diet-wise. Can you eat fish? Egg mayonnaise or tuna mayonnaise would be my suggestions.
