Side effects from medication
im beginning to think the whole dr and medication thing
is a farce
they say these meds help
and when you get side effects there are others to try
they give you meds and then limit your control when you can/need adjustments
all based on 1 number, 1 number regardless where the rest are (a1c)
they wont let you try other meds when you need to
and this is not based on hypos (i know theres a big fear out there drs have)
ive tried ive really tried
and i dont have the option of a second opinion
im sick of half measures
the lies and deception they give us
i quit i totally quit
the whole dr and meds thing
thankyou for reading

After the up and downer I had just trying to take Metformin and a statin, I was never more thankful than when I realised I did not need medication to get normal numbers. I would do anything to avoid taking tablets again.
Having had so many GPs in the past who simply run on rails when it comes to their opinions, and no amount of protestation will make them think they might be wrong - I really get where you are coming from.

I have felt the same way for the past three months, ever since my last A1C appointment last summer.
Then today I got the results from my lab work done last week.

They're not great; but what is great is the realization they give me that I'm not stuck. Things have improved. There's plenty of room for more improvement, and if I keep trying that may happen. If I quit and give up, it won't.

Hang in there. Plenty of room out on this limb!

Does your surgery have a Specialist Diabetic Nurse? She may just be a visiting one. Mine attended the surgery once a month, and I found out by accident. You could ask for a telephone appointment if you can't get face to face. Mine put me on insulin, I was on steroids and she totally got where I was coming from.

Do tell us what you are eating, we might be able to tweak something for you. or raise red flags.

what sort of meals are you having? Maybe some of us can help you tweak them to find a diet which helps your blood sugars without so much medication. What was your last HbA1c?

ive been eating things like canned beans
lentil soup kraft dinner
i had to quit the dairy many years ago but cheese and maybe a bit of cottage cheese
and quit most meat
due to intolerances
and my rapid insulin use has went way up

my last a1c was 6.8 on low carb

So you can eat soup? Mushroom soup was a favourite of mine. Always homemade, chicken. Cauifloilower google keto soup. You can batch cook and keep in the fridge or freezer. Crouton, see seriously low carb rolls, store in freezer until needed. Expensive, but luxury, for when needed.

Book a dental appointment asap.

Illness messes with blood sugars, plus tooth pain is excruciating. I honestly think that seeing a dentist could be the biggest favour you can do yourself. And as a T1, an hba1c of 6.8 is nothing to sneeze at, though I understand the concern if your insulin needs are going up and your blood sugar levels are all over the place.

I don't know what a cde is. It depends on when your dietitian was trained and whether there they have kept up with the latest research. If they tell you to eat carbs, grains and fruits then you should come back here.
