Trouble getting a pump

Good news for some children under 12 getting diagnosed type 1.

Our CCG is making funding instantly available for these children to have pumps.

Children under 12 already diagnosed though will have to request and go through the old process...

I am in Scotland and up until a year ago it was almost impossible purely down to funding, there was only maybe 3 or 4 pumps available per pump trained clinic a year, and they, rightly so, went to kiddies.

The Scottish government then provided funding to bring Scotland in line with the rest of the UK.

So it was only about 6 months from when I first asked to then getting it fitted, which is very lucky, but the money was actually there waiting, or the pumps where.

I would never of been considered if I didn't have DAFNE training and a proven record of blood glucose readings and a HbA1c over 8%. I also had dawn phenomenon.

Most pumpers will have had to some of the above things happening to be considered.

Once the consultant says yes though that should be you.

Good luck with it all, don't give up....
