Please can someone give me any help with keeping my feet warm?
I have heard that I must not put my feet anywhere near microwave bgs or heaters.
My feet are so very cold all the time even when moving around. I cannot do exercise as I have to use sticks to get about as have no support in my left leg thigh muscle.
any help at all would be most helpful
thank you

Hi timps, how about socks called 'heat holders'. Not tried them but thinking of getting some. If you google heat holders a few sites come up, but one is called heat holders, there are reviews.

hello timps

Is there a specific reason you cannot put your feet near microwave bags or heaters?

I'd go with woolly slipper socks or woolly boots of the sort you see in brochures at this time of the year. And I'd also say How about looking up some seated exercises? I go to a seated class every week. I can walk and do all the rest, but some of our group are wheelchair bound and feel part of the group. It's sociable and good fun. Plus a REAL work out with an expert instructor who specialises in rehab.
Check your local area for similar classes. They have them all over the country

Heat holder socks are fab! Ive got some and as I work in an office on the side of a very cold warehouse Ive been thinking today that I must get them out soon. The only thing is I find I need a pair of shoes/boots a size too big to fit them into. My old boots gave up last year so must go get some new ones asap.

Thank you all for your comments. THE DIABETIC NURSE told me never to use microwave bags or hot water bottles and also not to put my feet by the fire or in hot water because of the diabetes. Is she Wrong then? fed up with them telling me all of these things at the surgery, going to listen more on this site and ask more questions .

As far as I am concerned the only time I wouldn't use a source of direct heat on my feet would be if I had any loss of feeling in them so that I would be unaware of any damage such as, for example, blistering.

I have very cold feet in bed, and have done so since a child, if I don't manage to warm them I have very disturbed sleep. A few years ago I found an electric under-blanket that has a special zone setting which allows me to keep the area under my feet warm and that solves my problem whilst I am in my own bed. On holiday I take a hot water bottle in my luggage no matter where I am heading off to, though I did get some funny looks in the bar at the hotel in Jamaica when I trotted in with my bottle, complete with it's nifty knitted jumper, and asked them to fill it. These eccentric English. :D
