Trying to figure out my blood sugar insulin response

This morning I had 2 weetabix and 19 grams of all bran sprinkled on top. My blood sugar before this was 5.5. 15 minutes after I finished eating, it went up to 7.4. 45 mins after eating it went to 8. An hour and a half later it came back down to 7.2.

Now, I didn't think that was a big spike...just going up by 3mml.

But I'm not going to have my lunch for another couple hours...and I know it'll probably go down to around 4 by then.

So if it goes down to 4...is that normal or has my insulin caused it to come down that far?

4ish is a perfectly normal number for non-diabetics afaik, I believe some will go down into the highish 3's as well

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor and don't have RH.

My understanding is that yes your insulin has made it go down that far but 4 is a perfectly normal reading. (Non diabetics cab regularly go down to the high 3s before meals when hangry.)

This study on what happened when 153 perfectly normal non-diabetics wore a dexcom may interest you.

Checked it just now....so that's 3 hours after breakfast....it's now 4.8. Would this rise and fall of sugar levels be dramatic enough for inhibiting weight loss? If I go and have a seeded bread cheese sandwich for lunch...I will probably feel sleepy after. I don't always...but sometimes I do. I have pcos as well..just to mention it

If that was me, the weetabix and the bran would have in double mmols numbers!
I can only surmise that even though the spike was relatively normal response, with RH, it is what happens after the spike, even though you got very good readings returning to normal levels, the prospect of going below into hypo levels is always a concern. Also your insulin resistance would or should be better at handling the glucose derived from carbs, but isn't that tempting fate?
I don't know your trigger point, it is probably different from mine but the actual reason not to trigger your overshoot is what will stop the very low blood glucose levels. Eating carbs with RH is very slowly going to cause health issues.

The seeded bread is another carb that will spike you and cause the insulin overshoot, too much insulin is the reason why you feel sleepy and insulin is one of the reasons for weight gain.
You may be able to have more carbs than me, but it is all about carbs, food that you are susceptible to make you feel sleepy and gaining weight.
The rollercoaster ride of up and down glucose levels is not going to work with RH.
Being in normal levels or just above is recommended, that is how your health will improve and the chance of you getting your health and weight in control!
And it will help with your PCOS as well!
