Type 1 Diabetes, Like Autism, Is Totally Preventable!

I have read about links between Vit D and several autoimmune diseases. The recurring theme seems to be the level of Vit D received by the mother, while pregnant and then the child until they reach about 15 years. Have linked to the studies on this forum before.

I'm neither convinced, nor unconvinced, but I am sure of a few things:
A lot of people are not getting enough Vit D
As Vit D deficiency has been studied in more depth in recent years, it has become clear that it is connected to many more cell functions and immune functions than were previously realised.
There has been a rise of autoimmune diseases during the period when Vit D deficiency has worsened.
Correlation does not prove causation, but they are finding more evidence all the time.
I was tested for Vit D deficiency with several of the symptoms, supplemented, the symptoms disappeared, and I now feel a great deal better.
The body needs Vit K2 simultaneously with D3, in order to get the best benefit from supplementation.

This is the best introduction to the subject that I have yet found. This guy's references are always good. And he gives much better quality info than the link in the OP, which seems like a sales pitch/miracle cure suggestion.

A guilt trip for parents followed by a book and supplement sales.
If they had given Vitamin D supplements to every child in a particular country, all born in the same year and followed them for 15 years and there was not one of these children diagnosed with Type1 and/or autism then it might be more believable.
When members are asked on this site what do they think caused their Type1 diagnosis some reported an infection or a contagious disease. Other theories include cows milk and living in an environment that is too clean.
Take your pick but to say that autism and Type1 diabetes is totally preventable seems a bit far fetched to me.

I personally think Vitamin D might be involved in some way but I don't think it's the answer to Type 1. I think Type 1 is a multi-factor condition.

There have been so many theories espoused as to the causes of Autism - as the parent of a profoundly Autistic man my energies are on getting the very best services and care for him and giving him the fullest, happiest life possible. As I write this our son is out walking with one of his brothers and his Dad humming a happy tune and flapping his hands in delight as he goes. Dwelling on what caused his disorder would not add to that experience one little bit.

Cats get diabetes cats do not get vitamin D from sunlight just a thought.

They get their Vitamin D from diet alone..

A few weeks after diagnosis my vit D levels were very low. They put me on special tablets which sorted it out and now I have good levels. However, my type 1 diabetes has not gone away...

What a waste of internet data tbh. Nonsense.

Fellicette didn't have the option to refuse, and is one of only two cats known to have been Sent into orbit so as I said cats try to avoid weightlessness in zero gravity environments for the most part.
