Hey everyone I haven't posted here in a while but I could really use some help / insight!

So for months now I've been dealing with something that I have no experience with. Every single morning when I wake up I have this extremely uncomfortable feeling in my stomach that resembles the feeling like it is so beyond hungry which causes me to feel very nauseous like I want to throw up.

The only time this throwing up nauseous feeling stops is after I eat something, BUT.. this is when I begin to get upper abdominal pain on the left side of my body. The abdominal pain is something that I am just starting to notice recently more and more, so I'm not sure if I had mild pain before and now it's becoming more severe or it simply has just begun.

Below is a picture of where I am having the pain.

The pain is both sharp and chronic and occurs only after eating and I can't yet say how long it persists.

If anybody has any information, speculation or if you need more information to help me figure something out please post here as I would greatly appreciate any help.

Pain after eating cam be due to a number of things..

1) have you spoke to your GP / consultant?

2) how are your blood levels before/after eating... not your hba1c.....

3) uf you dont eat a
Meal,you dont feel pain?

4) have you had any stomach investigations?

Exercise machines and Gyms. Avoid like the plague.
You look a bit young, but it may be worth speaking to your GP. Your Spleen tends to migrate towards the left of your body as you mature. That said, I can't get rid of the thought of a possible gallstone issue (which is why I mentioned your apparent age). You look young to have this sort of worry but it's not impossible. I had chronic pain in a similar area over 20 years ago. After seeing a Doctor, it was suspected that I had a gallstone, which then passed, leading to the pain disappearing as rapidly as it arrived! Have since suffered with Diverticulitis and Appendicitis, one cured with antibiotics (twice) and the latter cured with surgery to remove my offending appendix!

I have not spoken to a GP. I need first to really have a general idea of what it could be so I can suggest tests or else they will just do a blood test and disregard me.

Blood sugars after upon waking are mostly between 10-18 mmol/L and stay between 10-18 mmol/L until about 2PM; onwards of 2PM my sugars are generally between 3-12 mmol/L till bed time unless consuming alcohol in which case they will be between 8-18 mmol/L.

The only time I feel pain that I notice as of now is when I eat. If I don't eat my stomach feels empty and I feel nauseous and like vomiting. In the morning it on a scale of 1-10 the feeling ranges from a 7-10 and in the afternoon the feeling is more like a 5-7 out of 10.

I had a parasite which I contracted in Jamaica this year mid june which I had prolonged symptoms for 2 weeks after coming back to Canada. I had a fecal test done which confirmed there was a parasite and was given medication and my symptoms had gone away.

The year before that around the same time in June I had gone to Mexico where I also contracted a parasite. This time my symptoms were extremely bad and I had severe stomach pain for onwards of 2 months before finally loosing the sever symptoms. I do recall though here and there some stomach pains after eating red meat but thats it, and it didn't last.

Since June this year all I have had done is blood tests which shows nothing wrong.

I don't think type 1 diabetics can get pancreatitis can they? I will try to see my family doctor I just want to be informed and educated to better help them figure out what to do to help me, thank you :)

Gallstone eh, hmm I'm definitely going to look this up and get familiar with it so I can talk to my GP about it. I wish I could talk to my endocrinologist about it but I only get to see him once every 12 months, twice if i'm lucky!

What kind of tests did they do on you to find out?

Go to see a GP as soon as possible you symptoms could be from a serious condition like an infection that needs antibiotics to be treated .Only a doctor can rule that out

Hi @Brendon.Dean The very best advice you will get here is to book an apt at your GP’s ASAP - none of us are medical professionals and the longer you leave it the more you prolong your anxiety, good luck and let us know how you get on ?

I had gallstones. That pain is located higher up, at your diaphragm, and when severe, you think you are having a heart attack as the pain wraps around to your back. Not likely to be that.

Diagnosis by guesswork seems pointless. The advice from this forum is not going to help if the problem is not diabetes related. I think you are in danger of alienating your doctor by diagnosing yourself, he might think you have cyberchondria. More help is to make a detailed note of symptoms, to take with you when you visit your GP.

I went to see the doctor, getting a blood test and fecal test done, and have to schedule an appointment for a stomach specialist down the road, thanks for the advice; will update the outcome here.

@Brendon.Dean sorry to hear this.

Three or four years ago I had a very very painful area in the upper side of my abdomen which felt much much worse after eating and drinking.

I yelped when the doctor palpated the area. He suspected a gallbladder issue. An ultrasound and then an X-Ray showed nothing wrong.

I was referred very quickly to a gastroenterologist who thoroughly examined me, asked me if I'd recently started exercising (yes, I said - I had begun to swim every morning) and he said I had costochondritis, which is inflammation of the cartilage between my ribs!

Not his speciality, but apparently he had some experience of it. He said the inflammation was squeezing bits it shouldn't, which is why I was finding it so painful after eating, and was feeling sick after eating.

I cut back on the swimming and built it up gradually. I'm now very careful of my posture. It continued to hurt for a long time, but didn't get worse, and it has now eased almost entirely.

I was surprised and relieved.

:)

I have no idea if it's related, but you're running very high blood sugars for most of the day and night which can cause all sorts of health problems. Are you sure your basal insulin dose is correct?

Had a scope down my throat and they said I had inflammation in my throat and wanted to give me medication. Since it is months later and I have had my blood sugars way lower and under control, I have gotten stomach pain maybe once or twice a month and feel like throwing up the same. Just like @scotteric said, I think it was from running high so much.
