My last HBA1C was 42 (or 6.1) and on the Libre 2 you can check what your HBA1C is likely to be and mine is usually 40 or 42. (6.0 or 6.1)

In my first years of Diabetes it was around 6 to max 6.8 after i saw someone suffering from a Hypo Seizure i spoke with my Doc about it. He pretty much told me that my bloodsugar doesnt need to be always as perfect and low at i tried to keep it at that point. unfortunately this didnt went as expected and my Hba1C went to the 8.5 and up to 9.
Thats when i decided i need to change something and deal better with my bs.
Now im around 7.5.

Hi, I'm recently diagnosed with type 1. When I was with the gp, my blood glucose was 29. I'm now on insulin and closer to normal BG. I had hba1c tested and I'm pretty sure they said it was very high, at 145. I've been trying to look into that and I'm now wondering if I misheard or misremembered that as 145 seems off the charts. Is 145 possible?

@NoopNoop It could very well be accurate. When you are type 1, you lose the ability to make insulin, which is what is used for the cells to uptake blood glucose. No insulin or little insulin and no or little glucose uptake. It's also why a lot of type 1's lose weight before they are diagnosed. You can't actually utilize all the food you eat without insulin.

The Glucose level at the doctors support that because of being at 29. If your daily blood levels are coming down, your A1c should be a lot better the next time round. They will wait a bit to do it because it measures a 3 month average.

Re: What are your H test results?

Hi Darren. By H results, I assume you mean HbA1c? This is one of the key tests and looks at your average blood sugars over 3 months (sort of anyway!) Without wanting to sound picky, this test is measured as a %, NOT in mmol so I wonder if you're getting mixed up? The mmol tests are the one-off blood sugar tests we can do on our meters. It's worth clarifying your results so you can compare properly with other tests in the future and see how you're getting on. My Hba!c was 8.2 when I was diagnosed, but fortuinately down to 5.9 when I was tested 4 months later.
Good luck!
WOW when i got diagnosed i was over 16!!!!
never went down lower than 7.1 meaby tell us your secret of taking such good care of your BG ?
(would appreciate that)

I had a recent Hba1c of 54 (or 7.1) which showed up as Abnormal on the report. Had one in February of this year also, and 2023. All showing Normal. I have a telephone apt. with the diabetic nurse tomorrow.

@KELSEY 21 Watch that diagnosis call. It's possibly a doctor not paying attention to your type 1 diagnosis. And if he puts it into your records you might not have the proper care you need until it's sorted out right. It wouldn't be the first time a doctor has not read someones records right.

You can be a type 1 with insulin resistance, but you can't be a type 1 and a type 2. Type 1 is lacking the ability to make insulin, although the total process can take years in some. But a type 2 makes insulin and doesn't use it effectively because they are insulin resistant.

Always been in 7-8 % range but had some bad years in the 9-13% where I was still relatively new to diabetes and adapting to new living situations. Doing injections manually still as I don't quite meet the criteria for a pump but I don't think it's worth getting one until technology has improved drastically.
On recent hba1c it was 7.6% understandably given that time in range is only 52% with 5% hypo and rest mid-high bg.
