It sounds like you've been thrown in at the deep end, I can understand your feeling a bit nervous, your hospital should of appointed you a diabetic nurse, so can you call them up tomorrow and ask to speak your nurse, tell them your fears, they should be able to get someone to call you back. When you get diagnosed your pancreas can start working a bit again after you start in your insulin regime, this means you levels can fall back into range between 4-8 without much insulin, it is a temporary phase but it does mean you should closely monitor your levels to ensure you don't go low. That's why speaking to your nurse is so important as they should be monitoring you carefully. Make sure you have quick acting glucose around you at all times, so orange juice, lucozade, jelly babies are good to get your levels up quickly.
