hi DD@robert72..
Quick bit of advice requested here. Ave you had to increase your pre get up correction bolus since being on degludec?
I'm going back to degludec and currently having to have 4 injections in total at 4am and 8am of novo and insulatard totalling 18.5 units before getting up.. only have 9 units in total for the rest of the day.
Sorry for butting in... I'm a low carber so its interesting what I may face on degludec again.
All my insulin needs changed since last trying degludec 3 years ago...
Just had to come off pump again as every cannula change failing... thanks...
No it's always been like that, even when I was on Lantus. It's just the trauma of having to get out of be
I still got it when I ate yoghurt and flaxseed for breakfast. I did escape it when I was in Zambia for a couple of weeks two years ago, but I have no idea what I did differently, other than being completely unstressedWhat happens if you eat on waking @robert72 (not necessarily a carby meal/snack), do you find you need more or less insulin?

I do have carbs now and again as a treat, but have to bolus much more for them than I used to. Also I get dawn phenomenon if I have carbs the previous evening, starting from around 4am. I think if I keep glycogen stores low and stay in ketosis then it doesn't come back to haunt meI'm interested in your evening meal bolus @robert72 - how does that compare to pre-LCHF? I'm asking because my evening bolus is around half yours (I have carbs) but I found cutting carbs didn't reduce my bolus need at all, if that makes sense? That's why I eat moderate carbs as I personally find carbs help imsulin sensitivity.
I have the dreaded waking rise too, but only have to bolus one unit if I delay eating. If I eat my (cereal) breakfast in good time, I don't have that pesky rise.
I suppose the only way to find out is to try it - hope it works for youThanks @robert72.
Mine is horrific DP, and putting feet on floor... basal and bolus at 4am and again at 8 an hour before getting up.
I'm jyst trying to ponder how much novorapid to take at 4am and again at 8am when I change to deglydec again Saturday morning.
I also have the same as you at night for higher levels starting from 4pm thru to about 8pm whether I have food or not. On pump I could deal with it great by just increasing the appropriate basal rates before hand.
Am worried for degludec and how it will affect the late afternoon highs. Whether I am just going to need a bolus correction to address them.
I am trying again with deglydec as no longer working physically so its hoped it may work for me this time. It just doesn't address by the sounds of it any DP at all and I am still going to have to wake at 4am to give a DP correction and again an hour before getting up. Guess as always its going to be suck and see. My last option is a diaport and I am desperately trying to avoid that....
Wish low carbing did correct DP!!!
It does good with my bloods after eating though!!
