Type 1'stars R Us

I do hold myself accountable for this mess. I pinky promise if I do finish that it'll never happen again, My sleepy bf said "you got this" when I have a feeling I'm not going to finish, but we'll see.

Morning all, woke with 5,3, but I did a 1 unit correction around 2 am, as it was heading upwards. A nice straight line on libre, but heading upwards, and I need food, and it won't last. But it was fun for a while.

Looks as if the rain has come for most of the day, so not going to find much sun today. Have a good day, everyone.

My January self did do the right thing to change what should've been today's clinic appointment as I could easily have still been tangled up in the fulfillment of my civic duty, but my today's self would rather be going to get it done today rather than next week. Especially as I'd agreed to a church-based errand for today in the city centre based on the aforementioned civic duty requiring me to be in the city centre today. Not that my clinic is in the city centre, but it's a nice stroll along the canal to there.

Just been told off by a random person walking along the alleyway (ginnel, cut-through... or your word of choice) for removing some weeds along my fence and throwing them over into my back garden. The point I was throwing the weeds into my own back garden and would put them in my garden waste bin when I walked back round was clearly not understood. The point I was removing holly and brambles before they started taking over and attacking people as they wandered around the corner was also missed. I've retired back inside for coffee before setting off out to do my errands.

It's fair to say, I've just edited to add, my near neighbours commended me for my considerate actions with both the holly/brambles and for not following the example of the rest of the fence owners and fly-tipping the garden waste onto the verge of the rest of the alleyway (ginnel, cut-through... or your word of choice) or at the derelict garages at the back of the house.

@MeiChanski how many assignments left? What is the deadline?
My approach (gaming worked to deadlines most of my life) would be, work out how long you have left take off sleeping and social time. Share out the time, write each in the time allocated allowing some time at the end for a read through. Just write, don’t care about word count initially. It is easy to add words at the end (unless it is a journalism course where you’ll be punished for extra words). E.g. I can write my assignment but need coffee. Can become: it is clearly possible for me to complete this assignment on time, however, my performance will be improved by the consumption of caffeine in the form of ice-cold coffee.

Not a soapbox at all @helensaramay. To be honest I was ready to be the disruptive kid in the back row but thought it wouldn’t be fair to those who really did want to know how to put it on and what the functions of the reader were. Mixed bunch of people, including one young woman who’d given birth just three days ago
.
It was obvious the presenter was following a script and plugging Abbott products. There were conversations in the room were about miaomiao etc with sharing of what we’d found, but the Abbott rep had to plug the Abbott links. And no, nothing about the 24 hours’ soak. The Abbott phone bloke I’d been talking to earlier was also stuck to the script.
The rep did have the grace to admit that it was a tight insurance, public liability thing. And of course Abbott’s got a money spinner. Helps us but it’s not 100% philanthropic. Have to carry cynicism brolly these days.

Would it help if we all wrote a couple of sentences for you @MeiChanski? Just tell us the title. Up to you to arrange them. All the right sentences, not necessarily in the right order

following the infinite number of monkeys and infinite number of typewriters theory.........

Of course, but how long’s infinity, would the assignment to beat all assignments meet the deadline? Mobius essays r us.

Thank you,
The topic is Bourdieu and his influence on contemporary social theory - I've only gathered he didn't do much for feminism.

It's unfortunately today and two essays both 2500 words each. It's also unfortunate that it is my last and very last chance to hand something in. University has been extremely generous because they are only asking 2 assignments rather than 8 modules that I was suppose to do.

Social mobility? Limitations on aspiration? Educational inequality? Comparisons to other theorists?

Is there a panic button anywhere?

Have you got a plan of essay structure you’re going to use? One topic at a time? Cut down the panic? When you feel like swearing just shout Foucault

And no more visits to this forum til you’ve finished. Granny mode now.

Feminism’s picked up on the effects of power holders

Evaluate his work and his contribution to today's social theory - I think he said something about education being a reproduction for social inequality rather than a meritocracy. His main themes are habitus, doxa, social capital, power and the state.

I have a structure, but it's a case of developing my own interpretation of what he said, I'm sure lecturers read a thousand essays and it gets quite boring if we are all regurgitating words from books. My essay will hopefully have a counterargument for feminism. Our friend Bourdieu didn't include us waman so feminists are screaming and adapted what he said to today's theory. i am panicking though. *Screams in diabetes*
